Administration Tools Guide

This Guide will help you to use the Site Administration tool set for your web site.

Today, this tool consists of a Control Panel, which allows YOU to edit, using a WYSIWYG editor to make modifications to the content in your web site

In the near future, the Site Administration tool set will be expanded to include Version Control on edited pages, Site Visitor Statistics, links to Help Desk, Tutorials and more.

Site Administration Tool

IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS TOOL ONLY WORKS WITH INTERNET EXPLORER.
It will not work with other browsers.

You will need to login to access your Site Administration tools.

The web address is made up of your web site domain name, with "/private" added to the address like this:
www.yourwebsitedomainname.com/private

When you type this in, you will see a login panel similar to this:

Enter your username and password.

When you login, you will see the main page that will look something like this:

 

Overview of Pages Administration

The Admin area will allow you to edit any pages we have "enabled".

This means that if you want to be able to edit any pages that are not included in the list of pages for editing, you will need request this.

NOTE: The effectiveness of your web site is based almost entirely on the value-add components provided to consumers with the My Buying Buddy self-service search tools. If you feel you want to edit and adjust pages then we always encourage our clients to make this part of an overall marketing plan.

Editing Web Pages

NOTE: ANY CHANGES YOU MAKE (AND SAVE) WILL IMMEDIATELY AFFECT YOUR LIVE SITE.

Each web page that is ENABLED will be listed on the Web Pages Administration Page and will have the following links:

  • View Page - click to view this page as it will be shown live in a browser.
  • Edit Title Tag - click to view TITLE tag in the editor and change this as required
  • Edit {section} - there may be one or more sections per page that you can edit. The section will have a name. E.g. "Edit content".

Using the Editor

The Content Editor has a Microsoft WORD style look and feel. Many of the ICONS and buttons in this editor are similar to those found in Microsoft products such as WORD.

The Edit Page has a edit panel with editing controls, and UPDATE / CANCEL buttons at the foot of the screen.

To learn more about the Editor functions - use the '?" icon in the editor itself.

NOTE: If you make changes and press UPDATE your site is immediately updated

To CANCEL changes press the CANCEL button.
